The project will allow the production of electricity and gas-based chemicals to achieve the transition of the continent by 2050 or 2060, he told MAP on the sidelines of the signing, in Rabat, of a memorandum of understanding on the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline, between the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Nigeria and Morocco.
HM King Mohammed VI and Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari have believed and supported this project, he observed, reiterating his country’s commitment to its achievement.
This project has a bright future with commercial viability, Kyari stressed, noting that the project will provide gas to about 20 countries in Africa and Europe as well.
He also noted that there are several opportunities in terms of energy to bring the continent out of poverty.
Besides the NNPC CEO, the MoU was inked by Sediko Douka, Commissioner for Infrastructure, Energy and Digitalization of ECOWAS and Amina Benkhadra, Director General of the Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines ONHYM.
