HCP: Unemployment Rate Down to 11.2% in Q2-2022

‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌​ ​ ‌​ ​ Casablanca – Morocco’s unemployment rate fell from 12.8% to 11.2% (-1.6 points) between the second quarters of 2021 and 2022, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).

This rate went from 18.2% to 15.5% in urban areas (-2.7 points) and from 4.8% to 4.2% in rural areas (-0.6 point), said the HCP, which has published an information note on the labor market situation in the second quarter of 2022 (Q2-2022).

The decline in unemployment has affected all categories of the population, noted the same source. It fell by 2 points for men, from 11.9% to 9.9%, and by 0.8 points for women, from 15.9% to 15.1%. It also recorded a decline of 2.4 points among graduates, from 20.4% to 18%, and of 1.4 points among non-graduates, from 5% to 3.6%.

The decline in the unemployment rate has affected all age groups, added the HCP, noting that it is more pronounced among people aged 25 to 34 years (-2.2 points), from 20.9% to 18.7% and lower among young people aged 15 to 24 years (-0.6 point), from 30.8% to 30.2%.
