Beach Soccer: Morocco Declared Victorious against Côte d’Ivoire, Qualify for AFCON

Casablanca – The Moroccan beach soccer squad has officially qualified for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2022), following a decision from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after the Ivorian team refused to continue its qualifying match against the Atlas Lions.

According to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation’s (FRMF) website, CAF applied Articles 54 and 56 of Qualifiers Rules, declaring the Moroccan team victorious against Côte d’Ivoire in the second leg AFCON qualifiers.

This decision was taken after the Ivorian team refused to continue the game, as Libyan Refree Yahya Abdelghani whistled a penalty in favor of Morocco, explains FRMF, recalling that Côte d’Ivoire had won the first leg (7-6) in Abidjan.

Therefore, the Moroccan beach soccer team officially qualifies for the next AFCON, scheduled from October 21 to 30, 2022 in Mozambique, says the same source.
