Health Minister Holds Talks with Spanish Peer in Madrid

Madrid – Minister of Health and Social Protection Khalid Ait Taleb held talks on Tuesday in Madrid with his Spanish counterpart, Carolina Darias, on several topics of common interest.

During this meeting, held in the presence of a large delegation and the Moroccan ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich, the two ministers have welcomed the strategic importance of relations between the two kingdoms which stems from the ties of friendship and brotherhood between HM King Mohammed VI and HM King Felipe VI.

The two officials also expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation between the various services of their departments, in the sense of the new and unprecedented dynamics of relations between Morocco and Spain.

This cooperation will take the form of partnerships on drug policy, which is now related to health sovereignty, as well as in the areas of social security and disaster management, in addition to improving health services through initial and continuing training, exchange of experiences, scientific research and use of new technologies in the medical field.

On this occasion, Ait Taleb noted that in accordance with the High Royal Directions, Morocco is committed to developing its relations with Spain in the various areas of the health sector.

For her part, Spanish Health Minister Darias referred to the long-standing brotherhood between the two countries, while praising the remarkable management of the COVID-19 pandemic by Morocco.

The two ministers decided to hold future meetings with the aim of strengthening cooperation, especially through a forthcoming visit of Darias to Rabat, while implementing the various frameworks of cooperation between the two kingdoms in the health sector.
