Specialized Training in Rabat on Investigation Techniques and Counter-terrorism (UNOCT)

Rabat – The United Nations Program Office for Counter-Terrorism and Training in Africa in Rabat started on Monday its second specialized training session focusing on investigation techniques and counter-terrorism.

This “Intermediate Level” training will be held from 05 to 23 September with the support of the Government of Australia, the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (ABIN), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the National Police of Spain, international institutions as well as institutions and the Moroccan government, which have made available to the UNOCT Program Office in Rabat their renowned expertise to strengthen the capacity of law enforcement agencies on the African continent in the fight against terrorism, said a statement by the UNOCT.

Contacted by MAP, Cesar Alvarez Velasquez, Training Coordinator and Program Manager UNOCT Rabat explained that “the fundamental objective of this training of 03 weeks is to develop the skills of conducting investigations against terrorism.”

Twenty-four participants from six African countries are taking part in this training, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Nigeria and Senegal, said Velasquez. They have already completed their first level of training called “Fundamental” in June 2022, and whose courses have been theoretical and practical.

Participants in this training should complete the 4 modules of training of about 400 hours (basic, intermediate, advanced and training of trainers) allowing them to obtain a university certificate at the end of the course.
