FORAF: Several Partnership Agreements between Moroccan and African Regions Signed

Saïdia – Several partnership agreements were signed, Friday in Saïdia, between Moroccan regions and some African regions and districts to strengthen cooperation in economic, social and environmental development.

Inked by the presidents of the councils of the regions on the sidelines of the 1st meeting of the Forum of African Regions (FORAF), held from 8 to 10 September in Saidia, these agreements cover different areas, including local and community development, economic inclusion, promotion of governance mechanisms, vocational training and environmental protection.

Thus, a dozen cooperation and partnership agreements were signed between the regions of the Kingdom and those of Mauritania, on the strengthening of bilateral cooperation relations, the exchange of experiences, the promotion of governance mechanisms, capacity building of local actors, the consolidation of the bonds of brotherhood between the people in addition to the coordination of positions in international forums.

On this occasion, a partnership agreement between the Association of Regions of Morocco (ARM) and the Assembly of Regions and Districts of Côte d’Ivoire (ARDCI) was also signed to encourage tourism investment and share successful experiences.

In addition, a partnership agreement between the Moroccan regions and their counterparts in Mali was inked, a memorandum of understanding between the region of Guelmim-Oued Noun and the region of Saint Louis of the Republic of Senegal in addition to a memorandum of understanding between Morocco and Ghana.

The regions of the Comoros Islands have for their part signed agreements with five regions of Morocco to support cooperation between private sectors, territorial governance and promote local and community development.
