Under the first framework agreement on continued cooperation and partnership, the two partner regions commit to cooperate closely in the areas of their intervention in support of economic development, land planning and connectivity, environmental protection, sustainable development, vocational training, employment and equal opportunities.
The two regions will also focus on scientific research, student exchange, cultural exchange, tourism development, heritage conservation and valorization, new information and communication technologies, public works and social development.
The second agreement concerns a cooperation project aimed at developing the exchange of experiences and best practices for the inclusion of people with disabilities.
The third agreement involves a special arrangement to create a Regional Observatory of Territorial Dynamics based on a geographic information system.
The signing of these cooperation agreements reflects the strength of relations between the two kingdoms and the privileged relationship between Rabat and Brussels, Rachid El Abdi, President of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Region Council, told the press.
In similar remarks, the Minister-President of the Brussels-Capital Region, Rudi Vervoort, noted that these agreements come in the wake of the actualization and acceleration of cooperation protocols through the implementation of concrete measures to serve the population of the two regions.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the Secretary of State of the Brussels-Capital Region, responsible for Urbanism and Heritage, European and International Relations, Foreign Trade and Fire fighting and Emergency Medical Assistance, Pascal Smet, Belgian ambassador to Morocco, Veronique Petit, vice-presidents of the Council of the Region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra and the chairmen of committees of the Council.
