Police Arrest Englishman Wanted for ‘Serious Crimes’ at Tangier-Med port

Rabat – An Englishman wanted by the British justice for murder and illegal possession of a firearm was recently arrested by the elements of the national security at the Tangier-Med port, while he was trying to access illegally the national territory.

The suspect, who had hidden in a trailer attached to a transit truck coming from a Spanish port, presented suspicious identity documents posing as a Maltese national of 33 years, said a statement by the national police (DGSN).

The authentication and identification operation conducted through channels of international security cooperation revealed that the suspect was in fact a British national aged 42 years and wanted by the British justice for serious crimes related to murder and possession and illegal use of firearms, added the same source.

The suspect was placed in custody to complete the judicial investigation ordered by the competent prosecutor’s office to determine the criminal acts he is accused of on national territory, while coordination will be initiated with the competent authorities in the United Kingdom about the request for his transfer in accordance with the relevant agreements and legal texts, the same source concluded.
