During this event taking place on September 26 through 30, the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, presented, through video conference, Morocco’s statement to the IAEA General Conference, a statement from the Moroccan Agency for Nuclear and Radiological Safety and Security (AMSSNuR) said.
Chaired by the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Morocco to the International Organizations in Vienna, Azzedine Farhane, the Moroccan delegation includes the acting director of AMSSNuR, Mounji Zniber, the acting director of the National Center for Energy, Science and Nuclear Techniques (CNESTEN), Hamid Marah, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, as well as other senior Moroccan officials representing various departments.
As part of AMSSNuR’s international cooperation strategy, Zniber will hold bilateral meetings with representatives of regulatory authorities and senior IAEA officials, according to the same source.
AMSSNuR also plans to sign MoUs on nuclear and radiological safety and security with fellow authorities from Slovenia, Slovakia, and the United States of America.
During its participation in this conference, AMSSNuR will take part in the Scientific Forum entitled “Rays of Hope: Cancer Care for All”, part of the “Rays of Hope” initiative, launched by the IAEA earlier this year.
The Agency will also participate on Wednesday in the 14th plenary meeting of the Forum of Nuclear Regulators in Africa (FNRBA). During the forum, the FNRBA will approve its 2022-2027 strategic plan, elect the members to its steering committee, and review the achievements of the six thematic groups and their action plans for the future years.
These cooperation activities are part of Morocco’s efforts to promote a proactive and multidimensional approach to safety and security, in line with the high guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
