Mohammed VI Foundation for Rehabilitation of Prisoners Supports Children of Former Convicts under Anti-terrorism Law (Statement)

Rabat – The Mohammed VI Foundation for the Rehabilitation of Prisoners supports the children of former convicts under the anti-terrorism law by strengthening their right to recreational activities and education.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the Foundation said it has worked with some of its partners to allow children of former convicts under the anti-terrorism law to benefit from summer camps and cultural, educational and entertainment activities during the summer vacations like their peers in different regions of the Kingdom.

The Foundation has developed and implemented a support program for these children at the start of the school year in order to provide them with school bags and supplies they need for a successful school year, added the same source.

According to the statement, these initiatives were carried out by the Foundation in accordance with the enlightened policy of HM King Mohammed VI in the field of rehabilitation of prison inmates and in coordination with the various departments and public and private institutions in charge of this category in order to strengthen their sense of dignity and allow them to reintegrate their place in society.

These initiatives are necessary because reality has shown that the sentence of deprivation of liberty does not only affect the prisoner but also the members of his family especially when it is a question of a head of family who by sinking into the world of crime drags down in his fall the foundations on which is based the family institution, according to the same source.

It added that the Foundation is working hard to ensure the reintegration of prisoners and former inmates including those convicted under the anti-terrorism law in a smooth and positive way within society by spreading the values and principles that encourage good, solidarity and cohesion.
