ICAO Assembly: Minister of Transport Holds Series of Meetings in Montreal

Montreal – The Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohamed Abdeljalil, met in Montreal with several of his peers on the sidelines of his participation in the works of the 41st Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Morocco participates in the event, which runs until October 7, with a delegation including officials from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, the National Office of Airports and the Embassy of the Kingdom in Canada.

On Tuesday, the minister had talks with his Qatari counterpart, Jassim bin Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, on ways to deepen bilateral cooperation, especially in civil aviation.

The official also held discussions with his French counterpart, Clément Beaune, in the presence of Morocco’s ambassador to Canada, Souriya Othmani. The interview focused on ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of rail, maritime and road transport.

The event will be an opportunity to focus on various topics such as aviation safety, capacity and efficiency of air navigation, aviation security, economic development of air transport and environmental protection.

The Moroccan delegation will attend the executive committees of the Assembly and the Technical, Economic, Administrative and Legal Committees. It will also hold bilateral meetings with delegations from several countries to conclude agreements on air transport and strengthen cooperation ties.

For Morocco, this event is an opportunity to highlight the importance given by the Kingdom to the air transport sector as a lever for development, particularly for tourism and the aviation industry.

The ICAO Assembly has 193 Member States and convenes every three years. It makes recommendations, reviews the work of the Organization, and guides other ICAO bodies. It also elects the Council and determines the Organization’s budget for the next three years.
