Morocco Plans to Bid for 2025 AFCON Soccer Tournament

Casablanca – Morocco intends to present its bid for the organization of the African Cup of Nations “AFCON-2025”, initially planned in Guinea, a source close to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) said on Saturday.

The organization of this great continental soccer competition had been withdrawn to Guinea, Friday, by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which had considered that “in the current state, the infrastructure and equipment are not suitable or ready” for the country to host the 2025 AFCON.

The announcement was made by Patrice Motsepe, president of CAF, after meetings in Conakry with the Guinean sports authorities and the president of the transition, Mamadi Doumbouya.

Motsepe had indicated at a press conference that CAF would reopen the call for bids to host the continental competition in 2025.
