During this meeting, Meziane said that “Morocco is concerned about the disturbing events taking place in the city of Al Quds and its surroundings,” stressing “the continued interest that HM King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, gives to the Palestinian cause and the Holy City.”
He also noted that this meeting is part of Morocco’s follow-up, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, of the situation in Al-Quds Asharif and the rejection by the Sovereign of practices aimed at changing the historical and legal status of the holy city.
For his part, Al-Hadmi stressed that “the gravity of the situation in the city requires that all active countries intervene quickly to stop the escalation of Israeli aggression.”
He added that “there is a very dangerous Israeli escalation that affects all aspects of life in the city of Al-Quds, in the run-up to the Israeli elections and under the cover of the Jewish holidays”.
“What more than 130,000 Palestinians living in Shu’fat camp and the neighborhoods of Ras Khamis, Ras Shehadeh, Dahiyat al-Salam and Anata neighborhoods have been subjected to since last weekend is a collective punishment that amounts to a war crime,” the Palestinian minister said.
“This coincides with the upsurge in house demolitions throughout the city, settler settlement activities, arrests and deportations, attempts to change the historical status of Al-Aqsa Mosque through incursions, the performance of Talmudic rituals and provocations, in addition to the excavations in the Al-Buraq Wall and Umayyad palaces,” Al-Hadmi continued.
He thus called on all states and stakeholders to act immediately and firmly to stop these attacks and violations, while working seriously to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people as a first step towards the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Quds as its capital.
Furthermore, Al-Hadmi expressed his readiness to strengthen cooperation and coordination with the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, which works to protect the holy city, defend its historical and legal status, and support the resistance of its inhabitants against the Israeli plans to Judaize it.
