Moroccan Delegation Partakes in Council of Europe’s 43rd Congress of Local, Regional Authorities

Rabat – A Moroccan delegation took part from 25 to 27 October in Strasbourg in the 43rd Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.

The delegation representing Morocco, which has the status of “Partner for local democracy with the Congress”, was led by Abdelaziz Darouich, President of the Moroccan Association of Presidents of Prefectural and Provincial Councils (AMPCPP), and President of the Prefectural Council of Rabat.

It also included Fatna El Khiel, President of the Communal Council of Arbaoua, Bahia Youssoufi, President of the Communal Council of the city of Benguerir, and a representative of the General Directorate of Local Authorities (Ministry of Interior).

A joint statement of the AMPCPP, the Association of Regions of Morocco and the Moroccan Association of Presidents of Municipal Councils indicates that the participation of the Moroccan delegation in this session “was highly welcomed by all participants who appreciated the important speech” delivered on behalf of this delegation, and which focused on “the assessment and prospects of cooperation between Morocco and the Council of Europe.”

On the sidelines of this session, the Moroccan delegation was received respectively by the President of the Congress, Leendert Verbeek, the Director of the Congress, Rafael Benítez, as well as by the new Secretary General, Matthew Morey.
