New Air Route Linking Warsaw, Marrakech Launched

Warsaw – A new air route, operated by low-cost airline “Wizzair”, between Warsaw and Marrakech was launched on Monday, as part of the development of tourist exchanges between Morocco and Poland.

Henceforth, two weekly flights (every Monday and Friday) will connect Warsaw Chopin and Marrakech Menara airports, a statement from Morocco’s Embassy to Poland said.

On this occasion, a ceremony was held at the Warsaw Chopin Airport, in the presence of representatives of stakeholders and political figures.

Morocco’s ambassador to Poland, Abderrahim Atmoun, expressed “his sincere thanks to all those who, after many months of work, have enabled the launch of this air service.”

“This link will further strengthen the flow of tourism between the two countries, thus contributing to the development of economic exchanges,” he added.

This service, Atmoun said, will also ensure connectivity with the South of the Kingdom and meet the demands of the Moroccan community living in Poland.

The diplomat and a delegation of 16 Polish journalists took part in the inaugural flight. A dedicated program has been set up so that Polish media representatives can take guided tours in Marrakech and Essaouira.

The launch of the new air link is the culmination of a partnership between the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) and Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe.

In 2019, nearly 87,000 Polish tourists and over 110,000 tourists from Eastern Europe visited Morocco. These figures are expected to increase significantly in the coming months and years, the statement concluded.
