Fight Against Extremism, Terrorism: Dutch Delegation Received at DGAPR Headquarters

Rabat – A delegation from the Netherlands was received Monday at the headquarters of the General Delegation of Penitentiary Administration and Rehabilitation (DGAPR), as part of the bilateral dialogue between Morocco and the Netherlands on the fight against extremism and terrorism, especially in its component related to prison management and rehabilitation.

The two parties discussed opportunities for cooperation between Rabat and Amsterdam on various issues relating to the field of prisons, particularly with regard to the training of staff of prisons and rehabilitation programs for residents and the approach to adopt for the treatment of vulnerable categories of residents and detainees in cases of extremism and terrorism, the DGAPR said in a statement.

The Dutch delegation then went to the DGAPR’s National Center for Training of Executives in Tiflet, where they inquired about the experience of the Center in training trainee officials in various trades related to prison management, the same source added.

It noted that explanations were also provided to the delegation on the training programs for staff of prisons, including those dedicated to the reception of residents extremists.

The members of the delegation have also visited the local prison Tiflet 2 where they have seen the efforts made by the DGAPR for the humanization of prisons and the qualification of residents for their rehabilitation through dedicated programs, the statement concluded.
