Qatar World Cup 2022 kicks off

Doha – The Football World Cup (Qatar-2022), the first to be held in the Arab region, officially opened on Sunday at Al Beit stadium in Al Khour, during a ceremony hosted by international artists.

The official opening of the World Cup was given by the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in the presence of the President of the International Football Federation (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, Heads of State and Government, in addition to several celebrities.

In his speech, the Emir of the State of Qatar welcomed the guests of Qatar, expressing the wish that football fans and lovers enjoy this great event.

The opening ceremony was marked by performances by famous singers such as Qatari Fahad Al Kubaisi and Jeon Jungkook, one of the members of the South Korean K-pop group, BTS, who performed “Dreamers”, in addition to a celebration of the participating selections, countries that have already hosted the finals of the World Cup and volunteers of the event.

The show, which also focused on the history of the Arab region, its traditions and civilization, was an opportunity to launch messages of rapprochement between peoples, enshrinement of the values of love, brotherhood and the fight against discrimination.
