Arrest of ‘Daesh’ Supporter Active in Sala Al-Jadida for Alleged Involvement in Preparation of Terror Project (BCIJ)

Rabat – The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), under the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested, on November 17, 2022, a supporter of the terrorist organization Daesh, operating in Sala Al-Jadida, for his alleged involvement in the preparation of a terrorist project to undermine public order.

This former detainee in terrorism cases, aged 22, whose identity has been established and details of his terror project revealed, was arrested on the basis of research and investigations conducted by the services of the DGST, said Monday a statement by the BCIJ.

The searches carried out in this case resulted in the seizure of electronic equipment and a sketch of plans for carrying out terrorist operations, in addition to manuscripts with extremist content, according to the same source.

According to the preliminary data of the investigation, the suspect has recently resumed his extremist activity and has begun to search for raw materials used in the manufacture of explosive devices in order to carry out his terrorist plan against vital facilities.

The arrested extremist was placed in custody to complete the judicial investigation conducted by the BCIJ under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office in charge of terrorism cases in order to reveal all the extremist activities he is accused of, to determine his possible links with terrorist organizations in Morocco and abroad and to define the ins and outs of the terror project he was preparing to carry out on Moroccan soil, the statement added.

This security operation attests, once again, to the importance and effectiveness of preventive operations aimed at countering the threats of the terrorist danger that hovers Morocco, especially in a context marked by the multiple attempts of international terrorist organizations and their regional branches targeting the security of the Kingdom and the safety of its citizens.
