During this event, organized at the initiative of the Secretary of the Holy See for Relations with States and International Organizations and Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Vatican, Paul Gallagher, the Moroccan ambassador to the Holy See, Rajae Naji Mekkaoui, emphasized the negative impact of the war in Ukraine on the global economy and the population in the world in general and in Africa, in particular, stressing the need to promote dialogue to achieve peace and avoid loss of life.
The diplomat welcomed, on this occasion, the “exemplary” position of the Pontiff, who “never ceases to denounce the disastrous repercussions of the war on the civilian population and call for the immediate cessation of hostilities”.
“The conflict in Ukraine should not make us forget the situation in other countries, still under high tension, including Palestine, especially the city of Al-Quds, Yemen and Syria,” she noted.
Naji Mekkaoui also mentioned the repercussions of climate change and war on energy and food security in the world, but also on immigration, especially for countries of transit or first entry.
