Lower House Speaker Meets with Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister

Rabat – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, met Friday with the Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister, Zsolt Semjen, currently on a working visit to Morocco.

The Lower House said in a statement that the talks focused mainly on parliamentary issues of common interest, as well as the quality of bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them through the opening of new priority areas for Morocco and Hungary, namely renewable energy, digital transformation, health and migration.

On this occasion, the two parties have highlighted the pivotal role of legislative institutions and parliamentarians in the development of bilateral and multilateral relations, as well as in the unification and coordination of positions, added the statement.

During this meeting, which took place in the presence of the Hungarian Ambassador to Morocco, Miklós Tromler, the Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister reiterated the support of his country to Morocco’s territorial integrity at the various international forums, indicating that the Kingdom is a country of stability and security and an example to follow in several areas.

He also mentioned the important evolution of parliamentary and economic relations, due to the consolidation of political, economic, cultural and scientific ties between Morocco and Hungary, as well as the intensification of bilateral cooperation through dialogue and regular consultations.

For his part, Talbi Alami highlighted the achievements of Morocco and the projects launched by the Kingdom in terms of digital transformation, renewable energy, social and health protection and migration policy, under the wise leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, according to the statement.

Talbi Alami also welcomed the distinguished bilateral relations, saying that Rabat and Budapest have pioneering experiences and a common history, expressing the Lower House’s openness to all initiatives in order to raise bilateral relations to the highest levels.

Furthermore, Semjen congratulated the Moroccan people for the remarkable results achieved by the national team during the World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

He also praised the initiatives undertaken by Morocco and Hungary to strengthen bilateral and multilateral relations, including coordination on issues of common interest.
