World Cup: Turkish President Congratulates Atlas Lions on Reaching Semi-Final

Istanbul – The President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, congratulated the Moroccan team following its historic qualification, on Saturday night, to the semi-finals of the World Cup Qatar 2022, at the expense of Portugal.

“I congratulate from the bottom of my heart the Moroccan national team, which is the first African team to have achieved the feat of reaching the semifinals of the World Cup,” the Turkish head of state wrote on Twitter.

“I also congratulate all our Moroccan brothers for this achievement,” the Turkish president added.

Morocco qualified for the semi-finals of the World Cup (Qatar-2022), after beating Portugal by 1 goal to 0, on Saturday at the al-Thumama Stadium.

The Atlas Lions’ winning goal was scored by Youssef En-Nesyri in the 42nd minute.

The Moroccan team will face France for a place in the final.

Morocco will face in the semi-final France which beat England by 2-1 on Saturday night.
