Gov’t Council Informed of OAU General Convention on Privileges and Immunities Adopted in Accra

Rabat – The Government Council, meeting Thursday under the chairmanship of the Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, was informed of the General Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), adopted on October 25, 1965 in Accra (Ghana), proceeded to the adoption of the bill n°63.22 on the approval of this Convention.

This bill was presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita.

The Convention aims to define the procedures and controls of the action of the various organs and centers of the African Union, their assets and their officials, the Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesman, Mustapha Baitas, said during a press briefing after the Council.

It also aims to guarantee all the immunities and privileges to be enjoyed by state representatives, employees and experts of the African Union in the various member states during the performance of their duties, in addition to the immunities related to the headquarters of the African Organization and communication mechanisms.
