Madrid – Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) is participating in the 43rd edition of the Madrid International Tourism Fair (FITUR), which is held on January 18 to 22 at the IFEMA exhibition center in Madrid.

Led by the ONMT Director General, Adel El Fakir, an important delegation representing tourism operators from the private and public sectors is taking part in this major international trade fair. This delegation includes the main tourist actors active on the Iberian markets, including the national airline company Royal Air Maroc, in addition to 23 tourist operators and 10 Moroccan regions.

The ONMT has mobilized great means to make a success of the Moroccan participation in this meeting considered among the most important in the world.

The Office is deploying a pavilion with a privileged location and an inspiring layout, highlighting the authentic positioning of Morocco as a destination, in line with the innovative deployment of the brand “Morocco – Land of Light”.

“FITUR is an important event in the world of tourism. The Spanish market represents the first one in terms of recovery of the performances of the year 2019, with a share of 98% at the end of November 2022. The conventions and agreements concluded during this event will enable us to confirm the good positioning of Morocco as a destination among the Iberian and Latin American tourist leaders by generating new tourist opportunities for the Kingdom”, said the ONMT Director General.

Several meetings will be held with the major actors of the Iberian and Latin American markets, the aim being to reinforce the flows towards Morocco.

Agreements have thus been signed, notably a framework convention with the Brazilian Association of Travel Agencies (ABAV) for the organization of its annual congress in Morocco in 2023. The ABAV has a turnover of 3.5 billion dollars and represents 80% of the sales on the Iberian market.

Partnerships were also ratified with the Corte Inglès Group, WORLD 2MEET and ABREU Portugal. Other meetings were organized with the major prescribers, tour operators and airlines specializing in the Iberian market, such as Newtour Portugal, Vueling, Volotea, Binter Canarias, Luxotour, Julia Tours and Tap Portugal.
