Average Annual Consumer Price Index Up 6.6% by End of 2022 – Statistics Office

Casablanca – The average annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) has increased by 6.6% by the end of 2022 compared to 2021, the High Planning Commission (HPC, Morocco’s statistics authority) announced.

This evolution is the result of an 11% increase in the index for food products and a 3.9% increase in the index for non-food products, the HCP said in a note on the 2022 CPI.

The variations recorded for non-food products range from an increase of 0.1% in “health” to 12.2% in “transport”, according to the same source. On this basis, the underlying inflation indicator would have increased by 5.8% in 2022 compared to 2021.
