Morocco Has Distinguished Experience in Transitional Justice (Official)

Rabat – Morocco has a distinguished experience in transitional justice and memory preservation, president of the National Council for Human Rights (CNDH) Amina Bouayach said Friday in Rabat.

Speaking at the 10th session of the Council’s General Assembly, Bouayach said that the CNDH has fed a database for storing archives relating to transitional justice with 22,945 digital copies of arbitration decisions.

She said that the digitization of the Equity and Reconciliation Commission’s archives serves as an accurate and available reference for researchers and future generations, noting that a law will be dedicated to regulating access to this information.

Reviewing the main actions undertaken by the Council since the holding of the General Assembly’s last session, Bouayach highlighted the development and approval of the memorandum of the right of access to water, following the exchanges held during the first meeting-debate of the cycle “Human Rights Agora”, noting that this publication has been transmitted to the government and parliament, including the relevant committees.

She also noted that the Council is working on the preparation of an opinion on the ability of educational programs to anchor and promote the values of citizenship and human rights, at the request of the House of Councillors which created a thematic committee in this regard.
