During a seminar on “Services”, organized within the framework of this conference, the speakers affirmed that the motto of Lions Clubs is “to serve” their communities, noting that this event constitutes a lever for Lions, in order to improve and develop in solidarity the services they provide to their communities.
Speaking at the event, Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) chairperson Douglas Alexander commended all Lions clubs for their commitment to their communities and for giving hope to those in need through Foundation funding, adding, “There is no limit to what we can accomplish when we unite for good”.
Alexander, former president of Lions Clubs International, said LCIF has awarded more than US$1.2 billion in grants to support Lions clubs since 1968, noting that the Foundation recently completed Campaign 100, which strengthens service, and raised US$325 million.
Dominico Messina of Lions District 108 Italy said the conference is an opportunity to identify new goals and ways of serving that will renew Lions’ sense of purpose and help them focus on the many challenges ahead.
“Giving is serving, we must all work together for the good of all and for a better world,” he said, noting that this event is a great opportunity for Lions to strengthen their association and reinforce their determination to improve the quality of their service to their communities.
For his part, Egon Steiner, chairperson of the board of Lions District 102 Switzerland, said that this event allows Lions to renew their enthusiasm to continue their service, but also to find ways to increase their impact, stressing that Lions are now more committed than ever to helping those in need.
