Rail Transport: Over 45.9 Mln Passengers Transported in 2022 (ONCF)

Casablanca – The number of passengers transported by the National Railways Office (ONCF) reached more than 45.9 million people during the year 2022.

The passenger activity has recorded an exceptional growth with more than 45.9 million passengers who chose the train for their travels during the year 2022 and a record turnover of more than 2 billion dirhams, said the Office in a statement, specifying that the passenger activity has evolved by 42% compared to 2021 to mark a remarkable recovery of all indicators.

Fourth anniversary of Al Boraq, 2022 recorded more than 4.16 million passengers transported, against 3 million in 2019 reference year before the pandemic and an annual turnover of 554 million dirhams (MDH), an improvement of 61% compared to 2021.

In addition, the goods activity closed the year with a turnover of 1.692 billion dirhams, corresponding to a transported volume of more than 20 million tons and a good performance of the freight activity recording a turnover exceeding for the first time 600 million MAD.
