Achraf Hakimi Charged with Rape, His Lawyer Denounces ‘Attempted Racket’

Paris – The lawyer of Moroccan international player Achraf Hakimi, who was charged with rape on Thursday, denounced on Friday an “attempted racket” against the footballer, who firmly denies the accusations against him.

The 24-year-old defender of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), heard Thursday by investigators of the Territorial Security of the Hauts-de-Seine, is accused by a woman of the same age of having raped her last Saturday at his home in Boulogne-Billancourt, a western suburb of Paris.

The charge laid against him “finally gives him the opportunity to defend himself,” said the player’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, in a statement.

After learning about this case, PSG said in a statement that it “supports the player, who has firmly denied the accusations and trusts the justice system.”
