Family Department Closely Monitoring Rape Victim Case in Tifelt – Minister Hayar

Rabat – Family Minister Awatif Hayar on Wednesday said that her department is closely following the case of Tifelt’s rape victim, in coordination with the public prosecutor’s office.

The Minister’s statements came on the sidelines of the signing of a framework partnership agreement between her department and the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG, Deposit and Management Fund).

On this occasion, the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family recalled that the public prosecutor’s office has appealed the first instance verdict, stressing that Morocco has a “strong judicial system” that inspires full confidence.

A commission of two social workers and a psychologist has been dispatched by the Ministry, in coordination with the National Mutual Aid, to assess the situation of the girl and her family, she noted.

The child is currently in need of sustained psychological support, under the supervision of a specialist, and action must be taken to get the child and her family out of the situation of vulnerability in which they live, she stressed, noting that they will benefit from the program for the economic empowerment of families.
