This joint work, which is part of the guidelines of the framework cooperation plan between the Moroccan government and the UNS for sustainable development 2023-2027, aims to contribute to realizing the vision of the New Development Model 2021-2035, said a joint press release.
Aiming to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, this joint work plan on youth focuses on four main areas, explains the release, stating that “the first area concerns support to the sectoral strategy of the Youth Department to implement the vision of the new youth centers generation, including the implementation of pilot projects inyouth structures and accreditation of non-governmental organizations working for youth in these institutions.”
The second component focuses on modeling and scaling programs and interventions with youth on innovation and social entrepreneurship, added the same source.
Regarding the third component, it focuses on the design of research models, with a view to improving the development and implementation of development plans and strategies at the territorial level, it said, adding that the fourth and final axis aims to strengthen the integration of gender in programs for youth.
The United Nations system is represented by six of its agencies, namely the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women).
This joint action dynamic began in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic, with the aim of better coordinating cooperative work on youth in Morocco, through programs and initiatives aligned with the country’s priorities in education, health, employment, and youth participation.
