Morocco, DRC Sign Economic Partnership Agreement

Rabat – An economic partnership agreement aimed at bringing together the Moroccan and Congolese business communities was signed Tuesday in Rabat between the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCIS) of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region and that of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Under this agreement, the two parties express their common will to establish an economic partnership to discover the economic potential of both countries and highlight the assets and business opportunities in the Kingdom of Morocco and the DRC.

As part of its openness to African countries, the CCIS Rabat-Salé-Kenitra has contributed to the creation of the CCIS of the DRC in order to support trade between the two countries and promote the sharing of experiences and expertise between economic operators, said president of the CCIS Rabat-Salé-Kenitra, Hassan Sakhi.

The visit last February of an important Congolese economic delegation had led to the establishment of a legal framework for partnership between the two consular chambers, recalled Sakhi, adding that both parties aspire, through this agreement, to strengthen the exchange of experiences and business missions, and to share business opportunities.

He also noted that Morocco is a strategic country for the DRC because of its economic growth and for the many investment opportunities it offers to Congolese companies, in addition to its strategic position as a gateway to Europe.

The signing of this agreement is the culmination of several joint efforts and consultation meetings, said for his part CCIS president of the DRC, Jean Robert Isifua Bokumbe, highlighting the role played by the Chamber of Rabat-Salé-Kenitra in the creation of the CCIS of his country in terms of supervision, coaching and support.
