Incident in Huelva: Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Competences Announces Establishment of Monitoring Unit

Rabat – The Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Competences announced the establishment of a monitoring unit in coordination with the services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates and the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Competences, following the death of a Moroccan seasonal agricultural worker in the overturn of a bus in Huelva.

In a statement received Monday by MAP, the ministry stressed that this cell is set up to determine the circumstances of this accident, contact the families of the victims and follow the law in the host country, in accordance with agreements in force between the Kingdoms of Morocco and Spain, saying it learned with “deep sadness” the death of the Moroccan seasonal worker and the injury of others, following the overturn of this bus in the Spanish municipality of Almonte.

All the injured were evacuated to hospitals in Huelva and Seville, where the Consulate General of Morocco in Seville and the Spanish authorities, were mobilized immediately, through a presence on the ground and the creation of a monitoring cell at the Consulate General, the same source noted.

According to preliminary data, “the accident was caused by poor visibility due to thick fog,” the statement said.

The ministry supports the victims and their families and is closely monitoring the incident, the statement concluded.
