The opening ceremony of this edition (6-13 May) placed under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, was marked by a vibrant tribute to the Burkinabe director Drissa Toure in recognition of his contributions to African cinema.
Speaking on this occasion, the president of the Foundation of Khouribga African Film Festival, Habib El Malki, stressed the importance of this festival which represents “an opportunity for African filmmakers to connect with the global audience, to make their voices heard and present their work to an international audience,” adding that “cinema can be a powerful means of bringing people together, stimulating dialogue and bringing about social change ».
“The films presented during this festival will entertain, inspire and educate our audience,” he said, noting that “the films in this edition, which reflect the linguistic, cultural and geographical diversities of Africa, cover a variety of genres, including dramas, comedies and socially engaged documentaries. »
