Moroccan Delegation Joins World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam

Rotterdam – A Moroccan delegation took part in the World Hydrogen Summit, held from May 9 to 11 in Rotterdam (Netherlands), to highlight the strengths of Morocco in this sector.

The Moroccan participation in this major event, which saw the participation of major global players in the field of energy, industry, research and finance, has helped to emphasize the major role that Morocco plays in this new economy, through several presentations, as well as various meetings with Dutch officials, said a statement from the Green H2 Cluster Morocco.

The Moroccan delegation incluides Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN) CEO Tarek Hamane and Green H2 Cluster Morocco President Mohammed Yahya Zniber, among other high-ranking officials.

During a roundtable dedicated to Morocco, Hamane presented the renewable energy policy in the Kingdom and the developments it will induce.

Zniber has, for his part, highlighted the opportunities including the manufacture of components for various equipment involved in this value chain (electrolyzers, desalination plants, transport, storage) but also the opening to green chemistry, thanks to ammonia and methanol which is the basis of many chemical derivatives.

In addition, the Moroccan delegation had various meetings including with the Mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb and the President of the Port of this city as well as with the Dutch Director General of Energy and officials of the Dutch Enterprise Agency (RVO).

The objectives of this major event are to showcase the role of governments in contributing to the development of the hydrogen economy, the latest developments in electrolyser production and opportunities for their scaling up, as well as decarbonization projects in heavy industry sectors.

Dozens of lectures and roundtables reviewed the various projects worldwide, their current stage of development, the technological advances underway, and the crucial role that infrastructure will play, particularly port, transport and storage infrastructure.
