The Moroccan delegation is headed by HM the King’s ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Hichame Dahane, and includes Adnane Afquir, acting director of the Tangier International Higher Institute of Tourism, according to a statement from the Kingdom’s diplomatic representation in the Caribbean country.
Following the official opening on Wednesday of the work of the organization’s executive council, and during the consideration of the items on the agenda, the Moroccan delegation welcomed the progress made in the implementation of the activities planned under the UNWTO’s general program of work for 2022-2023.
It also reiterated its support for the initiative to create the working group on rethinking tourism for the future as a subsidiary body of the Council, to which the Council’s Rules of Procedure apply, the communiqué said.
It also informed the Executive Council that the process of establishing the UNWTO Regional Office for Africa in Marrakech is at an advanced stage, with a view to formulating an optimal proposal for the financing of this structure.
The delegation also participated in two side events organized on May 16, namely the International Forum on Sustainable Tourism and the Online Education Committee, the same source added.
