Lower House Speaker Meets Iraqi Judiciary’s Top Official

Rabat – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami, met on Thursday with the President of the Iraqi Supreme Council of the Judiciary, Faiq Zaidan.

During this meeting, which took place in the presence of members of the delegation accompanying Zaidan and the chargé d’affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Morocco, the depth of the historical ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Iraq and the mutual respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the two countries were stressed, according to a statement of the First Chamber.

The two sides also discussed the changes and reforms that have taken place in the judicial system of the two countries, stressing the importance of exchanging experiences and knowledge.

On this occasion, Talbi El Alami presented an overview of the Moroccan parliamentary experience, particularly since the adoption of the 2011 Constitution, the powers of the House of Representatives and the relationship between the legislature and the other branches, particularly the judiciary.

For his part, Zaidan highlighted the changes that have taken place in the Iraqi judicial system, the competencies of the Supreme Judicial Council and its relationship with other Iraqi institutions, concludes the same source.
