In a statement to MAP on the sidelines of the Conference, organized under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, Al Malik said the international meeting was inspired by the Royal Message, which contains a set of proposals that could be adopted as part of the meeting’s recommendations.
The Royal Message affirms that religion is a bulwark against extremism, he pointed out, stressing that it is the responsibility of parliaments, religious institutions, intellectual elites, governments, civil society and the media to establish a productive dialogue between religions and civilizations, and to respond to the challenges that threaten the future of the planet and the fate of coexistence.
Al Malik also welcomed the various messages contained in the royal text, in particular the affirmation of the Kingdom as a country of coexistence.
Morocco “must be considered as such by the world, for the Kingdom includes within its bosom all religions, from Islam to Christianity and Judaism”, noted the ICESCO DG, also commending HM the King’s approach in His speeches, which are addressed to the international community and not just the regional community.
The opening session of the conference was marked by a Message from HM the King to the participants, read out by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami.
