‘African Lion 2023’: Governor of State of Utah, High-level Moroccan-American Military Delegation Visit Medical-surgical Field Hospital in Tiznit Province

Rasmouka Commune – Governor Spencer Cox of the US state of Utah and a high-level delegation from the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and the US Army visited the field medical-surgical hospital deployed in the Commune of Rasmouka in the province of Tiznit on Thursday.

On arrival at the hospital site, the delegation was briefed on the objectives of this humanitarian initiative, the human resources mobilized for its success, and the type of services provided to the local population, in addition to the number of beneficiaries.

Operational since May 30, this hospital mobilizes medical teams made up of FAR and US Army doctors and nurses, and provides medical and surgical services for the local population.

This multi-disciplinary health structure includes 02 operating theatres, hospitalization units with a capacity of 30 extendable beds, 06 dental units, a radiology unit, a sterilization unit, a laboratory, a pharmacy and a social module.

Service in this hospital is provided by a mixed Moroccan-American multidisciplinary medical and paramedical staff made up of 125 elements, a support and administration team (112 elements), as well as 13 social workers.

The high-level Moroccan-American military delegation was led by Major General Mohamed Lakdim, Chief of Staff of the Southern Zone, and Major General Michael J. Turley of the Utah National Guard.

“African Lion” is a combined joint exercise organized each year by FAR and the US Armed Forces.

The exercise, which will run until June 16 in seven Moroccan regions – Agadir, Tan-Tan, Mehbes, Tiznit, Kenitra, Benguerir and Tifnit – is an annual event that helps consolidate Moroccan-American military cooperation, as well as strengthening exchanges between the armed forces of different countries with a view to promoting security and stability in the region.
