AU: PRC Launches Preparatory Session for Next AU Executive Council in Nairobi, with Morocco’s Participation

Addis Ababa – The Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) of the African Union (AU) started, on Monday in Addis Ababa, work on its 46th ordinary session in preparation for the next AU Executive Council, scheduled for July in Nairobi, Kenya, with the participation of Morocco.

The Kingdom’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the AU and UNECA, Mohamed Arrouchi, is leading the Moroccan delegation at this session, which will be devoted to examining the agenda for the 43rd Ordinary Session of the AU Executive Council (Foreign Ministers), scheduled for July 13 and 14 in Nairobi.

The PRC will also consider the agenda for the 5th AU biannual coordination Meeting, regional economic Communities and regional mechanisms, to be held on July 16 in Nairobi.

The AU Permanent Representatives will examine reports on the budget, the peace Fund and the partnership Strategy, as well as those relating to general supervision and coordination of budgetary, financial and administrative matters, structural reforms, audit issues and multilateral cooperation.

The PRC will also consider the report on the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the 2023 theme, as well as the concept note and roadmap for the AU’s 2024 theme on education.
