Morocco Ready to Help Strengthening Partnership between Arab World, Pacific Island States

Riyadh – Morocco has reiterated its permanent readiness to build on its experience and achievements with the Pacific Island States to strengthen the partnership ties between the Arab world and these countries, a partnership based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States and non-interference in their internal affairs, and which aims to develop mechanisms for joint action.

Speaking in Riyadh on Monday at the second ministerial meeting of Arab and Pacific Island countries, Farah Bouqartacha, Secretary General of the Department of Sustainable Development at the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, stressed that this partnership, considered by the Pacific Island countries as a “unique model” of South-South cooperation, enables Morocco to act as a bridge between these countries and the Arab world in the future.

The Kingdom is putting its capital and experience, particularly in the fields of sustainable development and combating the effects of climate change, food security and skills training, at the disposal of the partnership between the two parties to ensure its sustainability, efficiency and relevance to the needs of the Pacific island countries.

Strengthening the South-South partnership is a constant commitment and a strategic choice for Morocco, she stressed, noting that the Kingdom’s active contribution to the international community’s efforts in the environmental field is one of the guiding principles on which the vision of HM King Mohammed VI is based.

This contribution consists of solidarity with all countries threatened by climate change and those actually suffering from its repercussions, in particular African countries and small island nations, as well as the presentation of innovative partnerships enabling these countries to benefit from Moroccan experience in this field, explained Bouqartacha.
