In a statement to MAP, Dahan said that this decision, which was expected in the wake of the positive dynamic that marks bilateral relations and as part of the diplomatic successes achieved by Morocco under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, will further strengthen economic and social relations, particularly in the Kingdom’s southern provinces.
The planned opening of an Israeli consulate in Dakhla will undoubtedly promote investment, trade and tourism in the rich and important Moroccan Sahara, he noted, noting that the announcement of the opening of this diplomatic representation is a strong economic signal confirming the importance of Dakhla as a regional hub.
Dahan also welcomed the win-win partnership between Morocco and Israel, marked by the signing of a multitude of agreements and conventions to strengthen cooperation in various fields, to the benefit of both parties.
He also pointed out that Israelis of Moroccan origin, who make up a significant proportion of the Israeli population, take a keen interest in the Moroccan Sahara cause, which they have always supported, noting that their defense of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity reflects their strong attachment to their homeland.
