Marrakech-Safi’s Jews Celebrate Throne Day

Marrakech – The Moroccan Jewish community of Marrakech-Safi organized a grand ceremony on Thursday evening at the Mohammed VI Water Civilization Museum in Marrakech to mark the 24th anniversary of the accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the throne.

The ceremony, which took place in an atmosphere of joy, conviviality and celebration, was attended by the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region and the Governor of the Marrakech Prefecture, Karim Kassi-Lahlou, heads of external services, local authorities, elected representatives, civil and military personalities, and members of the Moroccan Jewish community of the Marrakech-Safi region.

In a special address, Jacky Kadoch, President of the Moroccan Jewish Community of the Marrakech-Safi Region, expressed, on behalf of the Community, his warmest congratulations and best wishes for happiness, good health and success to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God help him in his noble undertakings for the benefit of the Moroccan people.

The celebration of the Feast of the Throne crystallizes the unwavering attachment of all components of the nation to the Alaouite Throne, and is an opportunity to highlight the supreme expression of this communion that has never wavered between the glorious Alawid Throne and the Moroccan people, added Kadoch, noting that this Feast “comes this year at a time of maturation of the virtuous process of political and economic development willed and conceived by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.”

“With its deep and multiple meanings and objectives, the Throne Festival is intended to illustrate this strong desire to achieve more victories for the nation, and an opportunity to mobilize in favor of Morocco’s advancement towards progress and modernity,” said Kadoch.

We must recognize that the “march” of the throne and of the people is a historic march and an immutable revolution that has remained relevant since the beginning of the struggle for independence and that continues to drive this determination to fight for freedom and progress under the wise and enlightened leadership of the sovereign,” he added.

Throughout these 24 years, His Majesty King Mohammed VI has never ceased to encourage and promote, in a firm and resolute manner, a response to this great challenge, through local actions, field visits and initiatives aimed at guaranteeing a dignified life for all citizens,” he recalled.

He went on to say that the Kingdom has entered a virtuous circle characterized by a great overall dynamism that has been set in motion and sustained over the past few years, believing that the major projects launched in Morocco reflect the will to put the Kingdom on the rails of development through solid infrastructural foundations.

“They also testify to the Kingdom’s determination to equip itself with competitive logistical and industrial platforms capable of driving development that is global, sustainable, harmonious and equitable, without excluding any region,” said Kadoch, reviewing a series of mega-projects carried out in Morocco in recent years in the fields of infrastructure, transport, industry, logistics….etc.

“This double dimension of the +New Morocco+ of our Great Sovereign, namely its unique ability to engage in dialogue with other civilizations, confirms without question that the Kingdom occupies a special place in the Arab world,” said Mr. Kadoch, recalling that Morocco is the only Muslim country to recognize the Hebrew tributary in its Constitution.
