The 1st place obtained by young Moroccans at these Games, held in Kinshasa from July 28 to August 6, illustrates perfectly the values insisted on by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in His Speech on the occasion of the Throne Day, namely seriousness and dedication, Gakwaya told MAP news agency.
“Moroccan youth has consistently demonstrated its seriousness, patriotism and unfailing dedication in all areas (sports, culture, science…), with exceptional results,” noted Gakwaya, who is also Director of the Rwandan Information Agency.
“Thanks to the dynamism of its youth, Morocco has shown that it is equal to the great challenges,” added the Rwandan expert.
African youth should draw inspiration from the Moroccan model in various sporting disciplines, notably football and athletics, he said, believing that Morocco’s victory at the Francophonie Games is also a victory for Africa.
“During a recent visit to the Kingdom, we have seen the infrastructure that Morocco has built up in the fields of football and athletics. Today, the results are clear: these infrastructures have begun to bear fruit,” he said.
These Games also revealed the important place occupied by women in the Moroccan sporting landscape, noted Gakwaya, recalling that 34 of the 58 medals won by Morocco were the work of women athletes.
The exceptional results achieved by Moroccan athletes in Kinshasa also show that Morocco is well prepared for the Olympic Games to be held next summer in Paris, he added, expressing confidence in the Moroccans’ ability to win numerous medals there.
