Bab Sebta: 70 kg of Cannabis Resin Seized – Customs

Bab Sebta – Customs and police officers at the Bab Sebta crossing point successfully intercepted a total of 70 kg of cannabis resin locally known as ‘chira’ in two distinct operations, customs sources said on Sunday.

In a joint routine operation conducted by customs officers and police services, 65 kg of narcotics were seized on Sunday. The source emphasized that this substantial quantity of drugs had been meticulously concealed within a gas cylinder that was installed in the trunk of a vehicle registered in Lithuania. The vehicle was being driven by a Lithuanian citizen who was in the process of exiting the national territory.

In a second operation conducted on Saturday, customs officers, in coordination with the police, successfully confiscated 5 kg of chira, which was concealed in the form of pellets and tablets. These illicit substances had been hidden within the dashboard of a vehicle being driven by a Moroccan expatriate.

The suspects were handed over to the judicial police for further investigation, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
