Tangier-Med Port: Spaniard Arrested and Attempt to Traffic over 1 Ton of Chira Foiled (Security Source)

Tangier – Police operating at the Tangier-Med port arrested, on Saturday on the basis of precise information provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), a Spanish national and foiled an attempt to traffic 1,050 kg of Chira, a security source said.

According to the initial investigation, the suspect, a 51-year-old Spanish national, was arrested red-handed while attempting to traffic a shipment of drugs seized from a foreign-registered commercial vehicle, the source reported.

The suspect was subjected to a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, with a view to clarifying the circumstances of this case and identifying the international ramifications of this criminal activity, the same source added.

This case is part of the sustained joint efforts of National Police (DGSN) and the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance to combat drug and narcotics trafficking, the same source concluded.
