“The Kingdom of Bahrain reiterates its constant position and solidarity with the Kingdom of Morocco in preserving its security and territorial integrity”, underlined Bahrain’s representative, Alyaa Sayed Salman, during the Annual meeting of the United Nations Committee of 24 (C-24).
She added that her country renews its support for the serious efforts made by Morocco to find a political solution to the Sahara issue, based on the Autonomy initiative, within the framework of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
She recalled in this respect the inauguration in 2020 by her country of a consulate general in Laayoune.
The diplomat also noted that her country welcomes the efforts of the UN Secretary-General to achieve a political, realistic, lasting and pragmatic solution, based on compromise to this regional dispute, within the framework of Morocco’s national sovereignty.
She further commended the efforts exerted by the UNSG’s personal Envoy to the Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, including the tours he made in the region as well as the informal bilateral consultations he held last March in New York.
