Speaking at a ministerial meeting of the AU PSC devoted to the state of implementation of the Common African Defense and Security Policy and other relevant defense and security instruments on the continent, the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the AU and UNECA, Mohamed Arrouchi, emphasized that the Kingdom reaffirms its commitment to participating fully in peacekeeping and peacebuilding, particularly in Africa.
The Moroccan diplomat recalled the speech delivered by His Majesty the King at the 30th AU Summit, in which the Sovereign affirmed that Morocco will continue to espouse the continent’s noble causes, and will work tirelessly to consolidate peace, stability and development on the continent.
During the meeting, held by videoconference, Arrouchi reaffirmed that military cooperation between Morocco and African countries is part of the Kingdom’s vision of solidarity, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces. The aim of this cooperation is to prevent conflicts and maintain peace and stability on the African continent, noted the Moroccan diplomat.
This cooperation represents an effective tool for implementing the African roadmap aimed at silencing weapons by strengthening the capacities of African armies and improving their interoperability, Arrouchi stressed, recalling that this cooperation covers several areas, namely training and education, technical and logistical support, exchange of expertise, humanitarian assistance and participation in peacekeeping operations (PKOs).
