“The Tarascon Court’s ruling once again confirms the legitimacy of Morocco’s actions in its southern provinces and the conformity of its actions with international law,” said Navarro, a lawyer specializing in international law, in a statement to MAP.
“This ruling is in line with Morocco’s stance and provides further proof of the validity of the agreements concluded between Morocco and its international partners, while ensuring their legal certainty,” noted the human rights lawyer.
“The southern provinces of the Kingdom of Morocco enjoy full legitimacy and are making progress in economic, social and human rights development, being represented on various UN commissions,” he added.
Navarro noted that the ruling was a “heavy blow for the polisario and its supporters” and a “political and legal victory for Morocco.”
On Tuesday, the Tarascon Court handed down a ruling against the Confédération Paysanne, which sought to prohibit IDYL, a French company specializing in the marketing of fruit and vegetables from Morocco, including the Southern Provinces, from distributing its products.
