The joint border control operations carried out by elements of national police and customs enabled, following a meticulous search with the support of police sniffer dogs, the seizure of this quantity of drugs carefully concealed in the cargo of agricultural products of the truck, according to a security source.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 209 kg of chira, in the form of small bales specially prepared for international trafficking, while searches and investigations led to the arrest of the truck driver, a 36-year-old Moroccan, the source added.
The suspect was placed in police custody for investigation by the Tangier-Med port judicial police brigade, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to determine any national and international ramifications of this criminal activity, the same source concluded.
