In a statement to MAP, Agha said that Azoulay had a long and honorable record of service to the establishment of a just peace between Palestinians and Israelis, and between Arabs and Jews in general, as part of the Kingdom of Morocco’s honorable positions in this field.
“Mr. André Azoulay belongs to the same school as Shimon Peres and other illustrious world figures who campaigned for the emergence of a new Middle East, in which religious and racial communities can coexist in complete security”, he added, pointing out that HM the King’s Advisor was one of the personalities who firmly believed in and fervently defended the two-state solution.
In this respect, Agha recalled the role played by His Late Majesty Hassan II in the search for channels of contact and communication between Arabs and Israelis, stressing that the late Sovereign was in the vanguard of leaders calling for political dialogue to build a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
And His Majesty King Mohammed VI continues with the same wisdom to play this role in relaunching the peace process on the basis of the two-state solution, living side by side in peace and security, added the Palestinian Presidency Advisor.
President of the State of Israel, Isaac Herzog, awarded, on Sunday, the Presidential Medal of Honor to HM the King’s Advisor, André Azoulay, known for his historic commitment to peace between Israelis and Palestinians, and to a two-state solution in which the words sovereignty, dignity and justice would be conjugated in the same way and with the same requirements for both peoples.
Past recipients of the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor include US Presidents Joe Biden, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, as well as such eminent figures as Henry Kissinger and Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel.
